Today I’m sharing 7 alternatives from the August 2021 Paper Pumpkin. I have to admit, I struggled with finding alternatives because the cards as designed were gorgoeus! This is by far my favorite ‘as is’ Paper Pumpkin ever. I loved everything about it – colors, embellishments, die cuts, card bases, and envelopes!
Crafty Collaborations
Crafty Collaborations is composed of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in multiple collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, tutorials, and swaps to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today we’re hopping to share alternative projects for the August 2021 Paper Pumpkin. I hope you enjoy the hop!
Today’s Projects
I came up with six alternatives to share. I actually made 3 others – 2 are the same as the one in the upper right, just with different bases. For the other, I tried stamping on the ribbon using Basic White ink. It was a failed experiment! Let’s get to each card.
alternative #1
This is my favorite. I love the bright colors! I took 2 of the banners and cut them in half to make the flags. They were attached to a scrap of Blackberry Bliss sitting on my desk. I cut the large HOPE die-cut into pieces to get the letters. Both the letters and flags were attached using liquid glue. The sentiments were stamped on the enclosed banners using the Blackberry Bliss spot from the kits. Finally, I added a few of enclosed sequins to give it some sparkle.
Alternative #2
For this alternative, I attached the 4 die cuts to the included Basic White panel using liquid glue. Next, I attached the Basic White panel to the included green panel. Finally, I attached the green panel to the card base. I tied a bow using the included Blackberry Bliss ribbon folded in half. The ribbon frays very easily, so I frayed the ends. To finish off the card, I attached the large ‘Hope’ sentiment using dimensionals and then embellished it with the included sequins.
Alternative #3
This card makes me smile! It’s so fun and festive. Of course, any card using Melon Mambo makes me smile. This is a simple alternative that uses elements from the kit, just on a different card base. I added a sequin to each of the butterflies to give them some sparkle.
alternative #4
This is another simple alternative. I used the Biggest Wish stamps set – one of my go tos because I love the bold sentiments and the script sentiments. Then, I stamped the sentiment on the included panel. It was a bit faded so I stamped it again. Still faded. So, I used a trick I learned a long time ago. Use a blender pen and some re-inker on a clear block to color in the faded parts of the image. Looks great on this card!
Alternative #5
I just love this image! WOWSER! I made other versions of this card by putting the die-cut on Blackberry Bliss and Basic Black. Although those were stunning, this one made me smile. It has such a happy vibe to it. To give the card some dimension, I adhered the die-cut to a 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″ Bermuda Bay panel. This panel was adhered to the card base using dimensionals, actually, the edges of the used up dimensionals!
Alternative #6
This alternate is similar to Alternate #2. The main differences are: the banners were glued to the green panel directly, I used butterflies instead of a bow as embellishments, and I used a lot more sequins on this one. I’m not sure which I like better, but I know I like them both!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
