Crafty Collaborations April Challenge blog hop is a card sketch. I love sketch challenges because they give me some structure to work with but still push me outside of my comfort zone. And I love them for blog hops even more, since it allows me to see what others did with the sketch. Here’s the sketch for this challenge.
Today’s Project
And, here’s the card I created with it.
I used the Pansy Patch stamp set and Pansy dies from the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I really love this set. There are so many possibilities with it, from stamped images to flowers made only with die cuts, to dies that cut out images from the coordinating Pansy Petals Designer Series paper.
For my card, I followed the sketch pretty closely. I created a panel from the DSP and then framed it with a panel of Blackberry Bliss. You’ll notice that I use small frames on my cards. I love the look of the smaller frame. You achieve it buy cutting the frame 1/8″ larger than the piece you’re framing instead of a 1/4″.
I used a Basic White card base and topped it with a Fresh Freesia panel framed by Blackberry Bliss. When I first laid out the elements, I thought it needed a little something else, so I embossed the Fresh Freesia panel using the Tasteful Texture embossing folder. What a difference it made in the depth of the card! Tasteful Texture may become my new favorite embossing folder for adding texture to a card front now that the Subtles folder is retiring!
Today’s Colors
Pink and purple have always been one of my favorite color combos and the dark, rich, purple of Blackberry Bliss is just so scrumptious that I had to use it for the pansies on my card. The pansies on the card front, inside of the card, and envelope front were all stamped with this combo. For a little sparkle, I colored the pansies on the card front with Wink of Stella.
I stamped both the front and inside sentiment using Blackberry Bliss ink. Layering circles dies were used to cut and mat the front image.
For the 3 accents, I used pearls colored with my Dark Blackberry Bliss Blend. I love the Fresh Freesia / Blackberry Bliss combo on this card. Stampin’ Up! makes picking colors so easy. Just look at the DSP and pick some colors from it and you’ve got your color combo!
The envelope was decorated on the front with the same pansies as on the card front and inside. I also added a strip of DSP to the card flap using liquid glue and trimming it to fit. Here’s one more look at the card and some of the supplies I used to make it. A list of supplies can be found at the end of this post. Unfortunately, can’t list the Pansies yet because they are a sneak peek from the catalog that goes live on May 4th!
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail. And, f you ever have any questions, please feel free to comment or email me. And, don’t forget to Pin this post so you can find it again!
